With our Around the World 2019 journey opening for reservations today, I’ve been reflecting on my own world cruise experiences. It was 20 years ago that I first journeyed on an around the world cruise, a westbound route just like Insignia’s magnificent new route.
We’ve recently unveiled a collection of more than 30 new exciting itineraries for the Winter 2017-18 season aboard Regatta, Marina, Riviera, and Sirena.
Dan Ostler, one of our thought-provoking guest lecturers, is a passionate traveler that takes joy in the many fascinations of the natural world. He devoted his lifelong career to research and design in diagnostic radiology techniques and laser surgery, and now enjoys indulging his spirit for adventure as he explores the world and shares his knowledge as a travel enrichment lecturer. He was recently aboard one of Marina’s journeys in the South Pacific and shared his underwater experiences below.
Over 1,200 miles from the nearest inhabited island and over 2,000 miles from Tahiti and Chile, Easter Island is one of the most remote inhabited islands in the world. The name “Easter Island” was coined by a Dutch explorer who encountered the island on Easter Sunday in 1722.
