Two talented artists and writers from Australia, Erica Aronsten and Zana Dare, will return to Artist Loft aboard Insignia next month. Their previous sailings aboard Marina proved to be very popular with guests, with Oceania Cruises’ own Jacques Pépin as a surprise guest!
In her drawing classes, Erica loves to “take a line for a walk” and finds the art of collage to be a perfect story-telling medium. Using a variety of techniques, guests cut, paste and create lasting mementos of their voyage.
During a few of Erica and Zana’s prior voyages in the Caribbean aboard Riveria, the classes proved to be a hit with one of Artist Loft’s regular guests, Donna. “It was an amazing journey for me with two incredible Australian artists. They were encouraging to everyone, whether you were a novice like me, an amateur or a pro. Incredible!” she said.
Another guest, Janet, appreciated the keepsakes she created during the classes. “Erica and Zana are great coaches and teachers. I created memories as well as ‘masterpieces’ that will remind me of my wonderful time,” she said.
In May, Erica and Zana will be sailing from their home port, Sydney, across the Pacific to Los Angeles. Once again, Artist Loft will come alive with their classes in drawing, painting, collage and travel journaling. Guests will be invited to make their own artist’s books and unique visual diaries.
A selection of Erica’s recent work from an art residency in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, will be on exhibition. For this mixed media work, Erica used the Australian bush as her inspiration for her series “Between the Lines.”
Erica and Zana’s new book, The Creative Pulse – 5 Steps to Stretch Your Imagination, is also hot off the press. The book is based on the benefits of creative health using their unique teaching methods. One section recounts their experiences as Artists-in-Residence at Artist Loft. The new publication and Erica’s artwork will be available for sale on board.
